Celebrating the joy of color and creation, Michelle Rummel's watercolors embody the fluidity of the feminine form in nature, the wind and the natural elements, the faces and the freedom of the trees and the varying landscape.

The soothing, mood-altering palettes of these paintings are sustained by layers of often unanticipated color combinations, resulting in richer and deeper contrasts and a refreshing contemporary style that bridges the traditional concepts of abstract and representational art. Enhanced by subtle detail and texture, often inspired and accompanied by original poetic verse, these vignettes delicately draw the viewer into Michelle's sensuous and light-manipulated reality.

Although primarily self-taught, Michelle's formal training at the Art Institute of Philadelphia and the University of Maryland's Textile Design program inspirited her love of texture and color and provided the springboard for her unique style. Her work continues in her studio located under a comforting canopy of trees and leaves which envelops her home in Northern Virginia.

Michelle is a member of The Art League at Alexandria's Torpedo Factory, The Greater Reston Arts Center, The Fairfax Art League and The Washington Water Color Association, and her work has been well-recognized in these organizations' juried exhibitions.

To preserve her creations, Michelle favors archival framing and matting and museum quality acid-free materials.
